Thermostatic or progressive?
A thermostatic valve holds a set temperature regardless of pressure changes elsewhere in the house — essential with multiple bathrooms. A progressive (two-way) valve is simpler and more affordable, mixing temperature and volume on one handle.
Count your outlets before you buy
A rain head plus a handshower is two outlets and needs a diverter. Add body jets and you need a valve rated for the combined flow, plus a hot-water system that can supply it.
- One outlet: single mixer or thermostat
- Two outlets: thermostat with diverter
- Three or more: multi-function valve and a verified flow calculation
Rain heads need real pressure
A 300 mm rain head on a low-pressure gravity system will disappoint. Confirm your available pressure and flow before specifying, or fit a pump.
