Why warm metals took over
Chrome reflects everything around it. Brushed brass absorbs light, which suits the travertine, micro-cement and oak palettes now dominating South African interiors.
Mixing metals without the mess
Two metals per room is the working limit: one for tapware and one for ironmongery or lighting. Keep the tapware metal consistent from basin to shower to bath.
- Warm stone and oak: Champagne, Brushed Brass, Lustre Bronze
- Cool grey and marble: Brushed Nickel, Platinum, Gun Metal
- High contrast joinery: Matte Black with brass accents
Living with the finish
Choose brushed over polished in family bathrooms — it hides fingerprints and water spotting. Clean with a soft damp cloth only; never use abrasive or acidic cleaners on any PVD surface.
Frequently asked
- Does brushed brass tapware tarnish?
- PVD brushed brass does not tarnish like living brass. It is a bonded finish designed to keep its colour for the life of the mixer when cleaned with a soft damp cloth.
